NAVITIME, the mobile GPS navigation and route search service from Japan, has won the grand prize at the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge®, APAC Edition. Among the thirteen finalists selected, the NAVITIME application received an honor for the most innovative location-based service (LBS) using NAVTEQ® digital maps on mobile phones.
Now in its sixth year globally and second year in APAC, the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge is the premier event in the LBS industry. It is a world-wide competition conducted by NAVTEQ Network for Developers™ (NN4D), NAVTEQ’s global community and support program for LBS developers and business partners.
“We are very excited to receive this honorable grand prize at such an influential award ceremony in the LBS industry,” said Dr. Keisuke Onishi, CEO and president of NAVITIME JAPAN Co., Ltd. (“NAVITIME JAPAN”). “From the early stages of NAVITIME’s global expansion, NAVTEQ has been providing us with the most advanced digital map data which is crucial when developing a location-based service. Receiving this honor confirms that our service is one of the best available in the industry. By continuing our strong relationship with NAVTEQ, we will use our technology to provide NAVITIME users with a sense of safety when travelling in unknown places.”
“We congratulate NAVITIME for their remarkable achievement as the grand prize winner of the Global LBS Challenge,” commented Marc Naddell, vice president, partner and developer programs, NAVTEQ. “NAVITIME’s LBS application demonstrated significant functionality and innovation in multi-modal navigation by using NAVTEQ map data and NAVTEQ Discover Cities™. The application was recognized for its commercial feasibility, functionality, ease of use and design by the decision-makers from across the value-chain who acted as judges in the competition. We look forward to seeing NAVITIME’s continued success in the LBS industry.”
