Novosoft releases Handy Backup for Android 1.4, a data backup utility for Android-driven mobile devices, now featuring scheduling of backup jobs.

Alliance, Ohio, December 17, 2009 – Novosoft, one of the leading providers of backup solutions worldwide, today announced the release of a new version of Handy Backup™ for Android, featuring task scheduling capability. Now users of the application can have their messages, media files and other data backed up automatically, not requiring any user attention.

"What we are trying to reproduce in Handy Backup for Android is the same powerful architecture that brought fame to PC version of Handy Backup," – said Alexander Prichalov, head of Novosoft Product Department. "We have a firm understanding of what people need: a set-and-forget solution that allows backing up phone's data independently of Google's or anyone else's services. The new version comes with a scheduling engine and moves our application a little step closer to this goal."

Unlike most other backup software, Handy Backup for Android is a free program available for all users of Android smartphones. Earlier Novosoft announced the intention to monetize the utility similarly to its desktop counterpart: make base functionality free of charge, with optional paid add-ons. However, at the moment, Handy Backup for Android remains free of charge and can be downloaded from the Android Market.

"In the next versions we are planning to add support for SFTP and FTPS servers as backup destinations and make some important security improvements," said Mr. Prichalov. "Also, we are planning to restore the program's compatibility with Handy Backup for PC, and let users back up phones directly to their computers, on a client-server scheme."

Handy Backup for Android is a free tool that can be downloaded directly on your phone from the Android Market.
